About the Siting Resource Center
The Siting Resource Center began operations in 2026 with the goal of streamlining the siting of renewable energy projects by bringing credible, science-based knowledge into real conversations. Launched by former U.S. Department of Energy employees, we've seen firsthand how siting and permitting issues can cause delays or even cancellations of projects that have the potential to benefit our communities. We're intimately familiar with the most recent research, proven best practices, and latest policy changes. And we want to help.
Every community in the United States has unique values, local economies, and natural resources that shape their relationship with renewable energy projects. Additionally, laws and policies regarding renewable energy vary widely. Fortunately, there is a growing network of trusted experts who are helping communities navigate the complex information ecosystem and weigh all the potential benefits and drawbacks.
Who We Help
We assist individuals and organizations engaging in local communities to deliver technical information on siting and permitting utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects. These groups include cooperative extensions, nonprofits, local community-based organizations, state agencies, universities, campaign organizers, and consultants.
